Fellowships are available for five graduate students, men or women from the United Kingdom to study for up to two consecutive years in one of the Faculties of Harvard. The value of each Fellowship is at least $23, 000 plus tuition and health service fees.

The competition is open to British citizens at the time of application who are studying for a first or higher degree, have spent at least two of the last four years at a United Kingdom University or University College and will have graduated before taking up an award in September 2010, or are graduates employed in business, education or government who graduated not earlier than 2008 and wish to attend the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Harvard Business School, Graduate School of Design, Harvard Divinity School, Graduate School of Education, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Law School and the School of Public Health.
Details of the competition and application forms may be obtained from the Registrar /Secretary of the applicant’s University or College. Forms can also be downloaded from the website.
Applications must be submitted through the head of the candidate’s University, or Head of College, as appropriate, in time to reach the Secretary, Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships, by 30th October 2009.

For Postgraduate Study at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Kennedy Scholarships tenable in 2010 – 2011 are offered by the Trustees of the Kennedy Memorial Trust. About six to eight Scholarships are awarded which cover tuition and health service fees, the cost of travel to and from the USA., and provide an allowance of at least $22,000 for the year plus an additional travel grant.
Applicants must be British citizens at the time of application, who are also ordinarily resident in the UK., who have spent at least two of the last five years studying at a University in the United Kingdom and who will have graduated before taking up their Scholarship.
Applications for Scholarships should be made to the Kennedy Memorial Trust via the candidate’s UK university. Applicants should enquire which office in their particular university co-ordinates scholarship applications. The Kennedy Memorial Trust office may be able to help in this matter.

The Thouron Award provides full funding (approx $80,000 per year per award) for up to 2 years of postgraduate study in a wide variety of courses at the top-rated University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and includes the opportunity for travel in America.
Graduates of British universities receive support for a wide range of postgraduate courses – in the Schools of Arts & Sciences, Communication, Dental Medicine, Design, Education, Engineering and Applied Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Social Policy, and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the Wharton School of Business. Typically, 6 to10 Awards are made each year to British graduates.
Eligibility
Candidates must:
- Be British citizens normally resident in the UK
- Have followed a UK secondary school education in the UK
- Be a graduate of a UK university or due to graduate by the Summer 2009
- Wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate programme which is wholly located at the University of Pennsylvania and leads towards a degree or equivalent.
Postdoctoral candidates are ineligible unless their proposed study is in a field different from that in which they undertook their previous university degree.

“What happens next?” is the motto of this year’s competition, which is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students of all subjects.
Imagine Gordon Brown and Karl Marx meet at Starbucks to discuss the future of capitalism, or James Bond and Angela Merkel meet on a secret mission to save the world…
Can you think of other encounters between a famous German and British personality? Where does it take place? What happens next?
Your submission may be in the written, audio or visual medium. Whether you want to hand in a piece of prose or poetry, produce a film or audio installation, take a photograph, compose a song, create a drawing, or make a dress… it’s entirely up to you.
Awards include 10 work placements in Germany, 2 summer courses at German universities, and 4 free flights with Air Berlin.
