3 PhD Studentships

Nanoparticle Cytometrics is a £1.4 million EPSRC-funded project involving researchers from the schools of engineering and medicine at Swansea University and materials science at Leeds University. The project aims to understand the mechanisms by which nanoparticles enter mammalian cells, develop metrologies (experimental and computational) capable of quantifying the particle dose per cell and of tracking the evolution of this dose in proliferating cell populations. The development of techniques and technologies such as this is vital to understanding the way in which nanoparticles interact with living cells and to quantifying nanoparticle toxicology.

About the Studentships: Each studentship will cover University tuition fees plus a £13,300 p.a. stipend.

Eligibility:

•         A 2.1 degree or above in a life sciences, physical sciences, engineering or computational discipline.

•         Applicants must be UK/EU citizens

Application closing date: 19th March 2010
